“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”
Luke 1:42-4
Growing up in Maryland, Pat learned as a child to love the Blessed Mother from her devoutly Catholic mother and grandmother. They taught her to pray the rosary daily and to come to Jesus through the heart of Mary. After a happy childhood in and around Baltimore, she began to work for the Social Security Administration, married and had a daughter, Rebecca.
In her Magnificat, Pat will talk about her journey back to the faith she was immersed in as a child. In her adult life, she experienced a failed marriage and the tragic death of her daughter. These sorrows led her to search for answers to questions in her heart about heaven and about her purpose in life. She had a deep spiritual hunger and thirst which pressed her forward until she found in an Old Testament prophet a reflection of her exhaustion and where to find God’s remedy and healing.
Pat will share her walk in faith where she believes Mother Mary, walking at her side, led her to trust in Jesus and “Do whatever He tells you.” Serving Jesus through serving others has brought joy back into her life.
At St. Pius X Church, Pat is a lector and sacristan and guardian in Eucharistic adoration. She is in her third year of formation as a Lay Cistercian of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers and embraces the contemplative life of prayer.
