Teens Take the Lead Social Club - Ontario

Teens Take the Lead is about connecting teens on the autism spectrum & their siblings together to build friendships, self-confidence, and independence in the community.  It’s designed for teens 13-17 yrs with social challenges who can function independently in small groups and is inclusive of their neurotypical siblings.

A key feature of the program is that the teens plan their own community activities with Autism Society Inland Empire guidance with a reasonable monetary limit of per participant.  Teens can brainstorm, propose ideas, and as a group make decisions. We will meet in the community to implement activities planned within the group. Another important aspect is to support independence and self-confidence. Teaching them to take initiative in interacting with familiar and unfamiliar peers to build strong reciprocal friendships.

This group will be facilitated by an adult.

This program is not a drop-of event or a therapeutic option. Caregivers 18 yrs. old and older will not partake in the event’s activities but must be present during the duration, no exceptions.
