Greater D-FW WTS Chapter Monthly Luncheon: DFW Aiport Technical Tour

Join  DFW WTS  for the July Technical presentation and “Behind the ScenDFW Airportes” tour of the DFW International Aiport Terminal A,  overview of the DART LRT Station and TRIP program.  Lunch & Program - $15.00 members/$30.00 non-members.

Space is limited! Please RSVP by Friday, July 13, 2012.  No shows will be billed.  Due to security purposes, no walkups will be allowed.

DFW Airport kicked off a seven-year terminal renewal and improvement program (TRIP) in 2010 designed to extensively improve the DFW travel experience with enhancements to Terminals A, B, C and E and the related parking garages.

The majority of TRIP efforts focus on extending the life of the Terminals by replacing infrastructure and simply making it more efficient to park, check through security and locate your luggage. The plan will also incorporate new self-service technologies, enhance the stores where you eat and shop and make DFW Airport a more modern, more efficient and more exciting travel destination.

Being green is important to DFW, so nearly 70% of the improvements taking place in the Terminals are related to improving our mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Once TRIP is complete, the Terminals will have better internet access, more spots to charge your devices and a modern interior to match.

We’ve listened to our guests and are excited to announce one of the newest improvements approved is a new parking structure at Terminal A. The new enhanced parking structure will replace the three existing structures. Parking will be a breeze with a new roadway that eliminates weaving and a new parking guidance systems. This five-level garage will have approximately 7,700 spaces – making it one of the largest parking garages in Texas. Elevators will take guests to the enhanced Terminal entries where you can check-in at more self serve kiosks and breeze through the newly expanded security checkpoints.

Another key project coming to DFW is the new DART Orange Line station. The Orange Line will run parallel with the Green Line through Downtown Dallas to Bachman Station in Northwest Dallas. From Bachman Station, the Orange Line heads northwest to the Las Colinas Urban Center in 2012 and to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 2014. DFW began construction on the DART station October 2011. The station platform will be located between International Parkway and the North Service Road near Terminal A.

Attire:  DFW Airport will provide personal protective equipment.  Participants are asked to wear  full-length pants (no ankles showing), shirts with sleeves, and hard soled-flat shoes. Shoes need to cover the entire foot. Examples include work boots, cowboy boots, etc. Tennis shoes, sandals, flip flops, heels are not acceptable on the jobsite and individuals that do not adhere to the dress code will not be allowed on site.
