The Art and Science of Mindful Practice
Dan Siegel MD
This year’s distinguished lecturer, Dan Siegel, MD, clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine where he is on the faculty of the Center for Culture, Brain, and Development and the Co-Director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center, will provide a scientific view of the importance of mindfulness in an integrative approach to health. Dr. Siegel will discuss the neurological basis of behavior, the mind, the brain and human relationships and put forth a method of expanding the sense of identity so as to include other people, species and the planet.  He explains how the notion of “health” can be a means of linking individual, community and planetary well-being.  Dr. Siegel will describe how mindfulness techniques stimulate the growth of self-regulating, integrative fibers of the brain to enable enhanced empathy, self-understanding, emotion regulation and even improved physiological functions - thus facilitating transformation into better states of health for both clinicians and patients.

There is no cost to attend as a regular attendee.  For those seeking CME/CE credit, there is a fee of $30, collected during registration.
