As the saying goes, nothing is certain but death and taxes. Join us in February where Dan Staszak will discuss this important and sometimes complicated topic. He will discuss various things to consider when someone passes away. Including the different tax return filing requirements for the decedent, trusts and probate estates. The importance of the “step up” in basis for calculating gains and losses and resetting deprecation. He will also cover how income and distributions from estates and trusts are taxed and what type of income tax planning can be done for beneficiaries. About the Speaker(s):
Dan began his career in public accounting in 1986 with Tollefson Neal & Company. In 1988, he joined a large local CPA firm in Folsom and in 1994 advanced to partner. A CPA since 1989, Dan handled tax planning and business advisory services for the firm’s business and individual clients. His experience includes working as contract CFO for companies in the manufacturing and health services industries. He is a graduate of California State University, Chico and received his Master’s in Taxation from Golden Gate University in June, 1993. He has been an instructor for UC Davis Extension since 2006 teaching in the accounting and CFP program. He also serves on the Board of the El Dorado Community Foundation. Dan founded Staszak & Company, Inc. CPA’s in September, 2011. |
