AJE Community Forum: National Week of Action Against School Pushout

Join us for a Community Forum, part of Dignity in Schools’ National Week of Action Against School Pushout on Tuesday, Oct 18, 4:30-6:00pm. Learn about DC's Restorative Justice movement and hear from schools, parents and local leaders (including Councilmember David Grosso, DC Attorney General Karl Racine and Seema Gajwani, Special Counsel on Juvenile Justice Reform) DC's efforts.

School pushout is a very real problem that disproportionately affects students of color and with disabilities. We know time out of school results in poor school attendance, low academic achievement and increases involvement in the school to prison pipeline. Locally, schools and other agencies have started to implement innovative alternatives to suspensions including using restorative justice practices. However, many people, are unaware what restorative justice is, how it is being implemented and what it's goals are and how they can be involved, particularly in bringing similar practices to their schools. Join us on Oct 18th to hear from city officials, school administrators and others about how restorative justice work is being implemented across the District, and how you can be a part of the effort to end school pushout!

Dinner and refreshments will be served.
