NEFLIN Expert Series 2014-15

An effective library isn’t an island but a bridge to the community it serves.  As community members, the library’s staff, users and volunteers as well as Friends of the Library play important roles in building connections that extend beyond the library.  Are your connections the foundation for mutually beneficial partnerships?

Partnerships with other organizations and agencies can expand the library’s programs and services.  These partnerships can also pave the way for advocacy. After all, a library’s story is even more compelling when it’s told by those who don’t work there.  Who will tell funders and other decision makers how your library has helped them?

Share your successes in extending your library’s influence and effectiveness and be inspired by the experiences of others through this interactive discussion. This program has value for staff, volunteers and Friends affiliated with libraries of any type.

Expert Facilitator: Faye Roberts

Faye Roberts served as Executive Director of the Florida Library Association from 2008 - 2014. A former social worker, she worked 18 years in NEFLIN-member libraries beginning as part-time Literacy Coordinator with the Suwannee River Regional Library.  After obtaining a library science degree from Florida State University, she served as Director of the Columbia County Public Library and later as a library development consultant with the State Library and Archives of Florida. In 2014 the Florida Library Association presented her with its “Leader of the Year” award.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff. Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
