Supervision for Middle and Upper Managers (03/22/18)

Sometimes even the best library strategic plan fails, in part because supervisors and managers neglect to keep their employees and frontline supervisors on track. The intent is to trust people to get their work done, but the result is missed deadlines and project creep due to benign neglect. What people skills are necessary to ensure that departments, branches, off-site partners, and special projects are on time, under budget, at agreed-up levels of quality – and with everyone still speaking to each other?
Participants will:

  • Check in with their managers and supervisors without burdening them with unnecessary reporting and details.
  • Pay attention to what is actually happening in their libraries.
  • Create simple methods for employee and customer feedback at every level.
