Fostering Startups @Your Library - Webinar (01/21/20)

We have heard the stories of a college student sitting in his dorm and building the next best startup. These students are no different from you or your patrons, except they know how to use the resources at their fingertips to launch the next innovative company. Wouldn’t it be amazing if the next successful startup stemmed from your local library?

This workshop will go through a basic process of how a startup works so you may coach your patrons. By fostering startups in your library, you will not only help someone become very successful, but you will further define the roles and significance in libraries.

We will work through various stages such as brainstorming an innovative idea, branding, marketing, social media, and funding. If you want to start a startup yourself, this workshop is also for you!

Virtual Trainer: Brian Pichman

Brian Pichman is the Director of Strategic Innovation at the Evolve Project.   He speaks a lot about innovative technology as a presenter and loves collaborating with both libraries and companies.  He is dedicated to bring libraries into the future using cost effective measures and strategies.  Much of Evolve’s work includes bridging the digital divide, breaking away from "traditional library views", becoming trend setters and finding or building innovative works geared towards interaction and collaboration.  He has also been working with start-up companies across the country, promoting libraries and encouraging people to work closer with libraries in developing new ideas and concepts.

This is an online class. Access information will be emailed one week ahead.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff. Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
