Academic Libraries Interest Group Meeting (2/6/20)

Meeting Information

At the Feb. 6, 2020 meeting of the NEFLIN Academic Libraries Interest Group, Rebel Cummings-Sauls will introduce the Florida Open Academic Library, a statewide searchable database of over one million unique resources launched in mid-January 2020. The meeting will provide an opportunity to explore and discuss OA/OER resources in the state.

 Rebel is the director of Digital Services and Open Educational Resources for the Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative (FALSC), serving 40 Florida state university and college libraries. She has over 14 years of experience in higher education, with 6 years in academic research libraries. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Information Studies in 2002 and her Master of Science in Library and Information Studies degree in 2010 from Florida State University, with specializations in leadership, web design, and technology/networking.

 Brief Agenda:
10:00 Announcements and new business (5 minutes)
10:05 Florida Open Academic Library presentation and discussion of OA/OER resources in Florida (45 minutes)

Interest Group Facilitator:  Susan Massey

Susan A. Massey is Head of Discovery Enhancement at the Thomas G. Carpenter Library, University of North Florida. For over 35 years, she has served academic libraries of all sizes in a variety of positions. Susan currently oversees the management of MARC metadata to enhance discovery in the library's user interfaces. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University, and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Her current research interests include leadership in an online environment and batch processes for library database maintenance.

Cost: NEFLIN Interest Groups are free of charge and are open to NEFLIN members only.  Registration is strongly encouraged.
