Meeting Information

At the May 7, 2020 meeting of the NEFLIN Academic Libraries Interest Group, we'll share our experiences, ideas, and lessons learned during the transition to distance learning support and working at home during the Covid 19 crisis. What has changed that might inform and improve our service to patrons when our libraries are fully functional again? How can we be better prepared for a similar event in the future if there is a resurgence or another pandemic? We'll look at 5 major functional areas during the discussion:
  • Transitioning library instruction and research consultation online
  • Serving the needs of patrons for physical materials and equipment
  • Managing meetings and team supervision from home
  • Transitioning technical services functions to work at home
  • Managing and marketing special short-term deals and free resources for electronic resource access

Interest Group Facilitator:  Susan Massey

Susan A. Massey is Head of Discovery Enhancement at the Thomas G. Carpenter Library, University of North Florida. For over 35 years, she has served academic libraries of all sizes in a variety of positions. Susan currently oversees the management of MARC metadata to enhance discovery in the library's user interfaces. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University, and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Her current research interests include leadership in an online environment and batch processes for library database maintenance.

Cost: NEFLIN Interest Groups are free of charge and are open to NEFLIN members only.  Registration is strongly encouraged.
