Technology Interest Group Meeting (2/5/20)

Meeting Information

The Technology Interest Group is for the discussion of technology in libraries, whether it is employed for patron services or library staff. We'll discuss emerging trends and share information on the implementation of various technologies in libraries, and we'll learn from each others' successes and failures. Come join us!

This quarter, Sam Putnam from Marston Science Library will be speaking about his experiences implementing VR technology at the University of Florida.  Sam is an engineering librarian at the University of Florida where he is the mechanical and aerospace engineering liaison and directs of the MADE@UF virtual reality development space. His work focuses on innovative instruction to teach information literacy, incorporating virtual reality, podcasting, social media, design thinking, and active learning.

Agenda:
2:00 - Announcements and Introductions
2:05 - VR Presentation and Group Discussion (Sam Putnam)
2:50 - Wrap-up (general comments, next meeting)

Interest Group Facilitator:  Adam Chalmers

Adam Chalmers is the System and Digital Technologies Librarian at the University of North Florida’s Thomas G. Carpenter Library. He started his library career working for the Brevard County Public Libraries in 2014 and developed an interest in improving library technology. While completing his master’s degree, he started working as a Library Coordinator for Access Services at the UNF library in 2017. Adam enjoys the challenges of troubleshooting library systems and implementing new technology to ensure a positive library user experience.

Cost: NEFLIN Interest Groups are free of charge and are open to NEFLIN members only.  Registration is strongly encouraged.

A reminder and access information will be sent out one week before the meeting and one day before the meeting.  Please email register@neflin.org if you do not receive your access information.
