Catch 'em by the Tail!

Okay, so that title is a little odd, eh?

There is a term in marketing called the “long-tail strategy.” If you were to picture a dinosaur-type critter, much of the traditional focus for organizations has been the large grouping of potential customers at the head and down into the tummy area – fairly large groups of like-minded folks.

Long-tail strategy refers to the many, many niche groupings in…you guessed it – that long tail. We can’t serve everyone, of course, but sometimes it’s helpful to take a look at exactly who might be out there that we aren’t reaching. 

The “head and tummy” of our critter may look pretty much the same month-to-month, but let’s look beyond those “body parts” to see what awaits us in that tail!
