Intentional Blindness: Are You Seeing Only What You Want to See? - Webinar (11/06/20)

To be fair, I (Linda) must share a disclaimer here… the term “intentional blindness” is one made up by yours truly (as far as I know!). It came to mind as I was observing a friend being adamant about something that wasn’t even remotely true – and the physical evidence was there to prove that it wasn’t true. And yet… that person chose to have intentional blindness because…well, who knows why?

There may even be evidence to “support” our view of things but perhaps the evidence we’re looking at is less convincing than that which we choose not to see. Did you notice that word? Choose. Small word, simple to do, but not always easy.

I’ve noticed that we humans can easily succumb to this tendency. Why do we choose NOT to see something – good or bad – that is literally or figuratively right in front of us? Let’s dig deeper to find some answers!
