Meeting Information

The next meeting for the Leadership Interest Group will take place on Thursday, June 3rd, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.

Based on the article "What We Talk About When We Talk About Leadership" by Christopher Stewart, we will discuss aspects of library leadership such as applied skills, leadership characteristics, leadership and change, emotional intelligence, organizational culture, transformational leadership, situational leadership, and managerial leadership, and share about which of these areas we'd like to learn more. Another useful resource is "Academic Library Leadership in the Dawn of the New Millennium" by Ashiq et al. (The Journal of Academic Librarianship, 2021). This discussion will also help give us direction for future interest group meetings.

Interest Group Facilitator:  Julie Evener

I am the Director of Library Services at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, where I have worked for 10 years. I have my master’s degree in library and information science from the University of South Carolina, and an education doctorate in higher education leadership from Walden University. Previously, I served on the NEFLIN Board of Directors. My experiences in my job, as well as on the NEFLIN board, have helped me hone my skills in strategic planning, budgeting, and outcomes assessment. I also have experience working with various types of academic libraries, myself being the long-time director of the library at a for-profit, health sciences university. My research has focused on academic leadership topics including organizational learning, employee engagement, and innovation.

Cost: NEFLIN Interest Groups are free of charge and are open to NEFLIN members only.  Registration is strongly encouraged.
