 Meeting Information

Guest Speaker:  Liza Campbell, head of Technical Services, University of West Florida

Topic: Writing DEI Policies for Technical Services

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are important in technical services cataloging, due to the changing/updated standards, and with the increased attention on the metadata in bibliographic records using outdated terminology. It is important for TS departments to update their internal policies to allow for additional training and professional development on understanding and awareness of these needs. I will talk about what other institutions have done, and point to resources that aggregate the policies and statements for Cataloging and Archives. We will discuss how to determine what is important for your institution in writing up internal policies, and offer ideas on how to disseminate the new policy to the library and institution at large
