Meeting Information

By special request, NEFLIN is kicking off a new Gaming Interest Group!  Gamification is a huge trend in libraries and other educational institutions.  This group will help us pool our collective knowledge and experience so that our libraries can lead the way in incorporating effective - and fun! - practices into our programs and services.

The first meeting of this group will take place online on Friday, May 27th, from 10:00 - 11:00 am.  Our special guest speaker is Dr. Chris Harris, Director of the School Library System for the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership AND founder of Play Play Learn.  Chris's specialty is using a game-based approach in teaching and learning.  Most recently, Chris facilitated NEFLIN's School Libraries Mini-Institute.

Gamers' Advisory: Connecting Players with the Right Games

With so many board games on the market, how do you pick the right games to add to a library collection? Then, how do you engage in the game version of readers’ advisory to make sure that players are getting what they want out of a game? Let’s talk about themes, mechanisms, the skill/chance continuum and other aspects that go in to connecting players with the right game.
