Equity and Inclusion: Outreach Opportunities in Your Library - Webinar (12/01/22)

Florida State College at Jacksonville has been working on providing services to students and surrounding communities that go beyond what many think of as efforts at a State College. The North Campus in particular has been producing an ongoing speaker's series for over 10 years. The series reached out to people in nearby neighborhoods as well as the campus populace. It promoted cross-discipline interaction between students and faculty, cultural awareness, diversity, local history, reading and library resources. It has become a wonderful example of "Authority in Context" and the importance of "first-hand" accounts.

In recent years a new series involving human storytelling began. The program promoted collaboration with FSCJ's public library counterparts, cross-discipline interaction, and learning, cultural awareness, diversity, reading, and library resources.

Come learn how these presentations cemented a strong relationship with our campus Student Activities department and provided opportunities in professional development and library promotion. You will come away with knowledge of how the programs developed and how you could use them in your library.

Virtual Trainer: Mary Dumbleton

Mary is a Librarian at Florida State College at Jacksonville's North Campus.
