AMBER HORN

If you've ever taken a workshop with Amber, you know she is a wealth of knowledge and has so much to offer in her teachings! She loves what she does so much she is taking time in her busy schedule to teach this class with us!

She has so much information she wants to share with actors and their parents, she said she wanted to make sure to get everything and more in durring this amazing intensive! Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to train with Amber!

We are So excited to have Head Casting Director Amber Horn Back  to work with our actors! Amber is working on many Projects so don't miss her. She is so excited and so passionate we know this will be an amazing and beyond valuable workshop! Below is her synopsis of her class. Read below to get all of the info of what she will be covering!

I believe that we are all put on this Earth to help each other. I want all of you to leave this class feeling empowered.
Knowledge is power and the more you know about the casting process the easier it will be to rock your auditions!

It may seem like being a solid actor should lead to booking roles, but that’s not necessarily the case. Auditioning is a much different skill set than acting during the tv/film production process, and you will want to practice being awesome at both!
It’s very similar to students who are incredibly smart, but they happen to be bad test-takers. Acting during the production vs. auditioning for it is a similar relationship. Actors have about 30 seconds to make the person watching the audition, want to keep seeing more!

I love teaching actors of all ages and skill levels how to conquer the audition while keeping the viewer engaged!
I am going to share a lot of my casting knowledge. You will all leave this room knowing things you can do immediately to start making your auditioning process easier.

This class is 3 1/2 hours long.
A parent/guardian will participate in the first hour of the class.
My laptop monitor will be shared though a projector, while I walk everyone through the casting process. We will discuss, breakdowns, headshots, agents/managers, resumes, reels, submissions, network/studio pilot tests, episodic casting, feature film casting, and most importantly every person in the room will know by the end of the first hour of class… what makes a producer/director/casting director, or even ANY PERSON want to keep watching a particular audition!

Actors will receive a link before class, where they will be instructed to get completely off book in order to fully participate in the class exercises!

The next three hours of class will focus on delivering awesome audition scenes, regardless if the audition is live in a room full of people or a self taped audition. The main goal is for everyone to feel comfortable learning how to establish strong connections during audition scenes. Your skill level doesn’t matter for this class. If it’s your first year acting or your 20th year acting, you will gain powerful tools from this class!

In the scenes we focus on the objective, and making sure actors understand how to evoke strong emotions to create a solid connection.
Next we will work on the moment before the scene begins, by discussing the emotional state before the scene starts. The actors full focus should be on MAKING THE OTHER PERSON FEEL SOMETHING. This helps the actor achieve the objective. Actors are far more interesting, when they make it about the other person and NOT about themselves.

We will also constantly try to remove any ‘indicating’ in the scenes! This includes things like eye rolling, sighs, etc. ‘Indicating’ is the actor trying to show the audience they are feeling something instead of actually feeling it. 100% of the time when an actor is indicating they are not present in the moment with their objective, nor are they making it about the other person! I can’t stress enough how important this next statement is. The most important person in the scene, is the other person. The most powerful tool an actor has is his/her eyes! We are going to do exercises in class to work on all of these skills.

Most importantly while learning we will laugh a lot, all be supportive of each other, and have a great time while working on auditioning skills!

Amber will bring sides in with her OR provide a link for you to pick  sides from the day before if its a link we will send it to you the day before otherwise she will bring them in. PLEASE PROVIDE A GOOD EMAIL WHEN YOU REGISTER.

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE Amber will start with a Q & A but will have you stay in there a good 45 min to teach you a few things that will help you understand the audition process to help your child, this is a amazing learning opportunity for you as well so dont miss it.
