This is a training designed for individuals interested in becoming Peer Support Specialists. This training is an overview of the process of becoming a certified Peer Recovery Specialist in Maryland. It is designed to provide an in-depth look at the process from “getting started” to actual certification. This training includes understanding the general requirements, training/ education, supervision, experiences, long-term recovery status, application process submission and examination. This training is a non CEU learning experience.
Trainers: Monica Scott-White LCPC, Register Peer Supervisor, has over 10 years of experience delivering substance use and Recovery Support services and training education to adults and families.
Audience: The intended audience is People with lived substance use, mental health or allies seeking Peer Recovery Specialist Certification.
Registration Information: Registrants will need to provide their full name, accessible email address, and name of organization. Each registrant must have a device (laptop, tablet, or Smart phone) that has a camera. Cameras must be on during the training with your name posted. Please use a fully charged or plugged into electric outlet device and a quite space that provides privacy for you and others attending the training. All materials (participant handouts which will be emailed to you) extra pens, etc. should be present to make this an effective work environment for you. You must complete a Behavioral Health System Baltimore evaluation form.
