Democratizing the DBQ:  Reading and Writing in History for All Students Grades 4-12

For Grades 4-12 History/Social Science and Language Arts Teachers

  • Are you looking for ways to incorporate more and better inquiry lessons into your courses?
  • Do you need some ideas about how to keep the rigorous work of reading and writing engaging for students?

Come to the Nebraska Council for Social Studies Conference a day early!  This lively one-day training will provide history and social science and language arts teachers in grades 4-12 with instructional strategies, sample lessons, and strategies for teaching document-based questions. Our instructional approach is designed to inspire great teaching and learning while meeting the goals of the new C3 Framework and Career and College Readiness Standards. Beth Montgomery of the DBQ Project will provide practical, hands-on experience spotlighting materials from The DBQ Project Library.

Purchase of binders or a DBQ Online subscription is encouraged but not required.

Workshop fee: $40 per person

Fee includes workshop, a sample lesson, and lunch.
