Vic Nordmann is a Kentucky expert on everything Backflow and is bringing his 40-hour certification training seminar to the Winstel Controls Tri-County location. The week includes the who, what and why of all different types of backflow devices, hands-on testing of backflow assemblies and installation of several models and sizes of backflow devices.
Outline:
- Definition and terms
- Types of cross connections
- Means to prevent backflow into the potable water piping
- How to install and maintain backflow devices
- How Kentucky plumbing code applies
- Hands-on testing of 4 types of backflow devices
- A written test and hands-on test of different types of backflow devices
Useful materials for the class:
- Kentucky State Plumbing Code Book
- USC 9th or 10th Edition Cross Connection Control Manual
- U.S. Government EPA Cross Connection Control Book (EPA.gov)
- Apple or Android tablet
- Notebook, hand tools and work boots
Hand tools:
- 6" or 8" crescent wrench
- Flat and #2 Phillip’s screwdrivers
- 7/16” 1/2" 9/16” and 5/8” combination wrenches
Continuing Education Credits:
- 20-hours KY Plumber Journeyman and Plumber Master Licenses (as a guest trainer, CEUs are provided under the trainer's license and not Winstel Controls)

Cost is $590 per participant and covers the course, lab work, testing and certification. A light continental breakfast, beverages and snacks are included. Class will break for an hour for lunch and each student will be on their own (there are many places in the area to grab lunch).
You must be registered to attend. Class is limited to not less than 8 and no more than 16 people.
