FALL 2022 Driver Education Waiting List (for Courses offered between October 1st and December 31st, 2022)

Students must be in grades 8-12 and at least 14 years old to register onto the Fall 2022 Online Driver Ed Waiting List.

There are usually 2 to 3 courses offered during each Waiting List session. Our driver ed course is completely online and takes 5 weeks to complete. A student needs a computer/laptop/tablet with internet access to be able to complete the work for the course. Phones do not work well with the platform used for the course. An instructor will help the students navigate through the course and keep the student and parent informed of the student's weekly progress.

Note that WRESA only handles the online driver ed courses described above. If you prefer a face-to-face course, or a virtual course where the instructor provides live online instruction sessions, go to our WRESA website at https://www.wresa.org and click “Driver Education” on the top bar. Then scroll down and check out the Course Options under the “Introduction to Driver Education” section.

I would recommend that you do 2 things at least once a week. First, check your SPAM and other junk folders for emails from WRESA. Most of the emails you receive will come from a “wresa.org” account, so you can also put “wresa” in your search bar and any WRESA emails should pop up. Secondly, go to our WRESA Driver Ed webpage at least once a week as well to check for any Driver Ed updates. To do so, go onto our WRESA website: https://www.wresa.org  and click on "Driver Education" on the top tab, and the updates will be at the top of the page.

If you decide to click on the link below and register onto the Fall 2022 Online Driver Ed Waiting List, an email will be sent to the Contact Email in the registration no later than September 15th with more information about the courses that will be offered during the Fall 2022 Session.

This waiting list is open to students in the WRESA service area.  This includes the following counties/school systems: Asheville City, Buncombe, Cherokee Central, Cherokee County, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey.

***Note that Jackson and Haywood students must use a private driving company for the driving portion.  Also, students in Cherokee Central, Cherokee County, Clay, Graham, Macon, and Swain counties will need to use the driver in their counties to do the driving portion and may include an additional fee.
