Sniffapalooza Goes to Lisbon!

This fall, Sniffapalooza is embarking on another incredible overseas journey to study fragrance around the globe, and we're thrilled to tell you that our destination is the extraordinary city of captivating smells, irresistible tastes, and exquisite art - Lisbon, Portugal!

 

We've been working with our amazing travel agent, and once again, we've contacted all our friends at the perfume houses & called in every last favor... because we want only the very best for our sixth annual Sniffapalooza trip abroad!

 

Here are the details so far, with updates to follow:

 

Saturday, November 10 - Saturday, November 17, 2012

 

Six nights accommodations at Hotel Mundial, in the center of Lisbon, double occupancy, private bath, A/C, Satellite TV, wireless high-speed internet access, swimming pool and sauna, breakfast each morning, five days of Private Motorcoach, including full-day and half-day trips with an English-speaking guide; a Sniffapalooza Welcome Dinner & Fado Show; comprehensive City Tour with Wine Tasting at Fonseca Caves; Full-day Belem Tour with Entrance to Jeronimos Monastery and Vasco da Gama Tomb, Cloisters, Aquarium, Tropical Gardens, Baixa, and the legendary Belem bakery; Full-day excursion to the coastal towns of Cascais, Sintra (Castelo dos Mouros), Estoril; tour of Ajuda Palace & Azulejo (Tile) Museum; sojourns to fragrance, soap, and candle factories, private visits to niche perfume boutiques, presentations by Portugal-based fragrance companies; special Master Classes with Roja Dove of Roja Dove Parfums and Luis Pereira of 100ml, and lots of scented surprises! Includes all taxes & service fees, and airport transfers - all for the incredibly low price of under $1500.00! (Single occupancy available at an additional cost.)

 

NOTE: Price does not include airfare. Current non-stop round-trip rate from EWR/Newark to LIS/Lisbon is approximately $900.00. You may be able to use your frequent flyer miles and save $$!!

 

Our days will be spent in sensory-related tours of museums, factories, botanical gardens... and browsing amazing shops and markets for locally made port, ceramic tiles, handcrafted pottery, jewelry, soaps, candles, and of course - fragrance! We will be immersed in the arts and culture of Lisbon, venturing down roads not traveled by the average tourist. We've culled lists from the experts, and we know about the best bakeries, niche fragrance shops (like Skin Life), restaurants, and wine bars!

 

Additionally, our friend Roja Dove, the renowned fragrance expert and nose, will jet over from London to have afternoon tea with us and give an exclusive Master Class and Avant Premiere of his new collection, Roja Dove Parfums. These will not launch in the U.S. until 2013 and we will be among the first to try them!

 

Another spectacular activity will be a Master Class with Luis Peirera, owner of 100ml, one of Portugal's most creative and innovative fragrance branding and marketing companies. Luis will show us his apothecary fragrance brand, Antiga Barbearia de Bairro, in a vintage barber shop, and will give us a sneak peek at his newest venture to be released in October, a laundress-influenced line. He will also take us to the ateliers and shops of fashion designers Jose Antonio Tenente and Ana Salazar, where we can experience their artistry as well as their private-label fragrances!

 

There will also be ample time in the week for strolling through Baixa, navigating Rua Aurea (Street of Gold), Rua da Prata (Street of Silver), Rua Augusta, and Avenida Liberdade. Exploring all parts of the city, venturing to Rossio, Chiado and Belem, admiring the historic buildings, detailed architecture, and urban parks, sampling the cuisine and legendary wines, enjoying the plethora of fantastic art and basking in the warmth of the Mediterranean sun. And of course--- more *shopping!*
