Social Determinants of Childhood Obesity:
Calls to Action in a Changing Political Landscape

The Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children will convene on Wednesday, November 28th, to examine four social determinants of childhood obesity and explore how our network can address these connections.

An introductory session will present what we know currently about childhood obesity in Chicago, how various upstream social determinants connect with nutrition and physical activity, and present new data related to childhood obesity.

In smaller in-depth discussions, participants will learn more about one of these upstream factors, discuss opportunities for engaging around that factor from an obesity prevention perspective, and develop calls to action for the CLOCC network and for government at the city, state, and federal levels.

Breakout sessions will focus on:

  • Mental Health
  • Immigration
  • Transportation, Development and Gentrification
  • Housing

If you have questions about the agenda or meeting details, contact CLOCC staff at info@clocc.net, or Eric Goodwin at (312) 227-7043.
