Sharing the Knowledge- Training for Charter Schools by Charter Schools

Maryland Charter School Network (MCSN) and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) are co-sponsoring a Maryland Charter School Common Core Spring Symposium. The Spring Symposium will focus on English Language Arts.

Finding charter school paths through the Common Core Standards maze. Come share your path and hear about the other paths that Maryland charter schools are taking toward full implementation of the Common Core Standards.

Charters have to align their own curriculum, unpack the standards and create the tasks. Learn from other Maryland Charter schools about how they have prepared for the implementation of CC or are implementing the CC in their schools, as they share their experience with the transition, and the resources and tools that they developed. Meaningful breakouts will provide workgroup time.

Schools should plan to send a group of three people, including operator and administrator and literacy/curriculum coach.

Each school team will receive tools and materials from presenting charter school peers, as well as common core support materials from leading curriculum providers.

There will be six (6) breakout sessions, and one session for school teams to work together on their own action plans, with presenters available for one-on-one help. The two breakout session strands are:

  • Just getting started
  • We are on our way
