SARAH MILDRED LONG BRIDGE

Construction began on this project in 2015, and participants will take a guided walking tour of the nearly complete lift span bridge to see the latest project developments, including the vehicular approach, control house and testing of the innovative lift span. The bridge, a joint project of MaineDOT and NHDOT is scheduled to open just a few weeks after the tour.

 ELIOT QUARRY

This Pike Industries quarry located in Eliot, Maine has supplied stone for the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge’s precast towers, as well as cast-in-place structures on the bridge (the concrete has been supplied by Pike’s Redimix division in New Hampshire). Get a behind-the-scenes look at an active quarry operations and an insider’s look at production of stone and aggregate for transportation infrastructure.

Cost is $85 per person and includes bus transportation and lunch.  Tour will leave from Portland.
