Update on Educate + Advocate + Impact Workshop

Our Advocacy101 Workshop Educate+Advocate+Impact is tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26, 2020. We are looking forward to seeing you there. If you haven't registered yet, there are only a few spots remaining - register via the link below!

Where? Room 310 of the Capitol Building., 210 Capitol Avenue, Hartford.

Time?   9:30 AM to 11:30ish, possibly Noon. [Room 310 will be open at 9 AM].

Weather. It’s looking good! Perhaps no rain until afternoon.

Parking.https://wp.cga.ct.gov/CapitolTours/directions/  These directions lead you right to entrance of Legislative Office Building, which is connected to the Capitol by an underground walkway similar to walkways/moving walkways connecting airport terminals.

If parking is not available in free garage, there is on-street parking on Oak, Hungerford, Russ, and Grand Streets. Also, paid parking available in CEA garage/Capitol Place, 21 Oak Street.

Train:https://www.hartfordline.com/route_stations/hartford.aspx

It’s  a 6/10 mile walk from train station to Capitol across beautiful Bushnell Park. [This is an aspiration for me, but it will have to wait for another day. jl]

Food and Beverages. We are not providing any food or beverages. You may purchase both at the Lessings Cafeteria and bring to our meeting space in the Capitol Building.

Recording this Session. Pua Ford, our Legislative Specialist on Open Government with special attention to Community Access TV and Public Affairs Programming, has graciously agreed to record our session; she is also preparing testimony for hearings coming up on Thursday.

Handouts. There will be packets of handouts for each of you when you arrive, and we will post them on website after the event. (One or two are still in process).

Volunteer Job Description.

Our current Legislative Specialist for Election Laws, Yvonne Senturia, has other major commitments in March and April this year when the legislative calendar is most full. Yvonne has anchored this key position for LWVCT for several years. We are eternally grateful to Yvonne for stepping up and staying at the helm to keep us on course in challenging times. I am attaching the job description for this position so you can consider whether you or some other current LWVCT member would be interested in exploring the possibility of helping her out and taking on more of this responsibility. [Please note: trouble attaching job description. Look for it in your packet tomorrow, or email me at Advocacy@lwvct.org and I'll send it to you via regular email.]
