2021 Legislative Session Kickoff 

Grassroots advocacy is a powerful force for change in both state policy and spending. In the wake of COVID, mental health grassroots advocacy will be needed now more than ever. To help you, our grassroots advocates prepare for the 2021 legislative session in January 2021, we will be hosting a virtual advocacy kickoff event. The kickoff is comprised of two sessions. You are welcomed and encouraged to attend both.

Session One: 10am-11:30am

Catch up on the state of mental health policy in Virginia and the upcoming trends going into the 2021 Virginia legislative Session. Keynote by DBHDS Commissioner Alison Land. 

Session Two: 12pm - 2pm

Interactive workshop where you will leave with a well craftted story utilizing your connection or lived experiences with mental health. Your story is a powerful tool that educates and activates policymakers to act in ways supportive of mental health.
