The event will feature engaging learning on the topics you want most. Inquiry, controversial conversations, geoliteracy, civic engagement, elementary inquiry, financial literacy, primary sources, historical investigation, law-related education, and more!

Join experts in the field and your social studies colleagues for the
117th Middle States Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference February 28-29, 2020 in Towson, MD (north of Baltimore).

Awards: Winners for our 12 awards will be recognized at the upcoming conference during the President Award's Breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 29th from 7:30-9:30am. All conference registrants are invited, so come and hear from our excellent award winners! 

Schedule: Similar to our 2019 conference, we will offer 2 full days of programming over the Friday and Saturday conference weekend, including: full sessions, poster sessions, exhibitors, and a field excursion. New this year will be two afternoon on Friday afternoon, which we have now decided to offer to all registrants free of charge. See below for the general schedule which will be finalized soon. 

Friday:

7:30-8:30am - Exhibitor Hall Opens (breakfast included)

8:30am-12:20pm - Concurrent Session (4 Rounds, 16 full, 8 poster)

12:20-12:45pm - Transition to optional afternoon experiences

12:45-7:00pm -

                Field excursion (optional, extra charge)

                12:45-1:00pm - Depart on bus to downtown Baltimore

                1:00-1:30pm - Travel to Jewish Museum

                1:30-3:00pm - Jewish Museum

                3:00-3:30pm - Transition to Reginald Lewis Museum

                3:30-5:00pm - Reginald Lewis African American History Museum

Afternoon clinics (open to all)

12:45-2:00pm – Lunch on your own

2:00-5:00pm - In-depth afternoon clinic (options: Religious Literacy, Economics for Elementary, Economics for Secondary)

Saturday:

7:30-9:20am - President’s Awards Breakfast (breakfast included)

9:30am-12:20pm - Concurrent Sessions (3 Rounds, 12 full, 6 poster)

12:30-1:50pm - Roselle Luncheon (lunch included)
