Financial Planning Business Models

Panel

  • Ethan Pepper, CFP®, EA, Founder of Orchard City Wealth Management, LLC
  • Phuong N. Quach, CFP®, CRPC®, BFA, Private Wealth Advisor and a co-owner of Quach, Chien & Associates
  • Eric Solve, CFP®, EA, Senior Advisor and Partner at Wade Financial Advisory

Meeting Description

Many students approach the end of their education with questions about what type of employment is available for those with a certificate in Personal Financial Planning and/or the CFP® designation. Please join us for this informative panel comprised of longer time professionals in the financial services industry to hear how they determined the best path for themselves, what their work entails, and their specific advice for attendees. Panelists will be representing the most common paths followed, and some can represent more than one model based upon their employment history.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the various models from those who are in the
profession, and those who have successfully transitioned into the profession. Come with your
questions!

Panel Biographies

Ethan Pepper, CFP®, EA, is the founder of Orchard City Wealth Management, LLC, a
comprehensive, fee-only wealth management firm, specializing in working with technology
employees, who often have tax planning concerns around various forms of equity
compensation, and want to understand their options yet want a professional advisor to manage
the details. My firm was founded to help clients develop a financial plan regardless of their net
worth. I am committed to people and relationships, not products tied to incentives. As a fiduciary, I sit on the same side of the table as my clients.  Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family at the beach or hiking one of the many trails in the Bay Area.

Phuong N. Quach, CFP®, CRPC®, BFA, is a Private Wealth Advisor and a co-owner of
Quach, Chien & Associates, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial
Services, LLC.  She has over 20 years of experience in comprehensive wealth planning.  Her
practice focuses on retirement, education and estate planning.  She is passionate about equity
compensations planning and investments strategies that take taxes into consideration.
Phuong is an active member of the Financial planning Association of Silicon Valley and is
currently serving as a Programs Committee member. Phuong has also served on the FPASV
board of directors and was a past president.

Eric Solve, CFP®, EA, is a senior advisor and partner at Wade Financial Advisory. He is an
active member of the Financial Planners Association of Silicon Valley, having served both as
past president of the chapter and on the board of directors for several years. He earned a
bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from San Diego State University and received a certificate in Personal Financial Planning from UCSC
Extension. Whether working with clients, mentoring associate advisors, or teaching students,
he is passionate about personal financial planning and the positive impact it can have on
individuals and families.
