2018 LAUNCH Retreat Sept 21-23

Our biggest retreat of the year!

Launch Retreat builds friendships among students, connections between students and adult leaders, and launches the new school year with energy while staying at the beautiful Camp Tejas! Students will be engaged with each other while joining in crazy games, listening to great teaching, worshipping together while growing in Jesus’ love for each other. This retreat is for students entering 6-12th grade. Youth will stay with others their same age/gender and be given many opportunities to get to know each other, regardless of whether they came in with many friends or not knowing anyone.

The mission of Launch Retreat is closely tied to the relational connections built during AHUMC Sunday School, Youth Group, Life Groups, and Youth activities. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that your student(s) become engaged in these before and after Launch to gain the best possible experience. Launch is not the destination, it’s a tool to help move students toward relationships and engagement with God throughout the year.

It’s completely normal for some students, especially 6th & 7th graders to have questions such as “Will I know anyone? Will I have fun and be accepted?” We hope that you will encourage them and sign them up! One of the main goals of this retreat is building relationships and allowing opportunities for students to meet new people. Stepping outside their comfort zone is a great way for growth, and our caring leaders help everyone be engaged.

(The purpose of this retreat is for AHUMC students to bond with one another and their leaders. Friends should be invited to this retreat only if they are reaching out to that friend and expect that he/she will continue to come to our Student Ministry. It is detrimental to the base purpose of the Launch Retreat for your student to bring a friend just so that he/she feels comfortable if that friend will not continue to be involved.)

WHERE: Camp Tejas in Giddings, TX (1038 PR 2191, Giddings, TX 78942)

TIME: Arrive on the West side of AHUMC (toward the Quarry) BEFORE 5:30pm on Friday (Sept 21) then arrive back at the church for pickup by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (Sept 23)

COST: (*refund policy is listed below):

Early Registration (Aug 1 - 18) $199 Students / $99 Adults

Regular Registration (Aug 19 - Sept 12) $219 Students / $119 Adults

Late Registration (Sept 13 - 16) $249 Students / $149 Adults

*Cost includes: pizza on Friday, t-shirt, bus, food, lodging at Camp Tejas, band, speaker & all activities

**Partial scholarships (25%, 50%, 75% off) are readily available upon request for early bird and regular registrants; simply email Josh Gill BEFORE registering to make this request. Scholarships are not granted for late registrants.

CLICK HERE to download the required consent forms needed for the retreat. These should be completed & turned in BEFORE the Retreat! You can turn them in on Sundays or mail them to the church (825 E Basse Rd, 78209) to the attention of Laura Peel, Student Ministry Admin Asst

*PLEASE NOTE: Students may be staying in rooms with adults nearby, but not necessarily in the same room as them.

STUDENT MINISTRY REFUND POLICY: Refunds may be granted up to two weeks before the event. Refunds will not be granted less than two weeks prior to an event except for major reasons (student is hospitalized, death in the family, etc.). This is because significant work is handled in the two weeks prior to an event (volunteers finalized, rooming assignments made, transportation finalized, groups formulated, leaderss assigned, etc.) and changes made cause undue problems. In some circumstances, we are unable to grant refunds due to payments or contractual agreements having been made in advance for that person (i.e., airline tickets purchased, food/lodging reserved, etc.).
