Fall 2019 Confirmation Class Registration
Dear Parents of Rising 8th Graders,
Welcome to the Fall 2019 Confirmation Class at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.
We are honored to share this journey with you and your children.
Our mission at AHUMC is to partner with God in bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to
earth by making disciples of Jesus the Christ. We recognize and celebrate that both you
and your child are investing time and energy into that partnership for the Kingdom of
Heaven.
This fall, the confirmation tradition at AHUMC will continue with our latest crop of eighth
graders. We have crafted a course that we hope will provide a meaningful and
manageable experience for both our students and their families.
We will meet on Sunday evenings starting August 25 and ending November 10 from
5:00 - 6:30 pm in the Seminar Room (W100-101) on the first floor of the west wing (full
schedule attached). For the first five sessions, confirmands will learn and dialogue
together around topics such as the cross, church history, and the sacraments.
Beginning with our sixth session on October 6, our confirmation class will merge with
STARS: An Introduction to AHUMC for six weeks of intergenerational learning and
dialogue around the mission and core values of our church (Sonship/Daughterhood, Text,
Action, Relationship, and Spirit). Each of our eleven sessions will be facilitated by both the
AHUMC pastors and the Student Ministry staff.
