Since the beginning of the mortgage meltdown, almost a million Californians lost their homes to foreclosure. While the housing market is starting to stabilize, its recovery may be different from previous crises and is being shaped by new market conditions and shifting trends. In the aftermath of this crisis, how is the affordable housing industry adapting to these changes, getting people back into homes, and helping to rebuild communities?

 

Come hear experts discuss the response by state and federal agencies, the revolutionary programs and partnerships that private/non-profit groups have initiated, and the innovative approaches local entities have taken to address the foreclosure crisis. Opening our forum will be newly appointed FHA Commissioner and HUD Assistant Secretary for Housing, Carol Galante, who will speak on the federal government's response to the housing crisis. Afternoon keynote speakers will be Dr. Selma Hepp, Senior Economist, California Association of REALTORS, and Dr. Carolina Reid, Assistant Professor of City & Regional Planning, UC Berkeley.
