Keep up to date on the latest Fair Housing information and regulations with our Fair Housing for All training. This event has been broken down into modules that cater to the unique needs of a variety of housing professionals, including developers, REALTORs, public housing authority staff, property owners and managers, property maintenance staff, and those involved with manufactured housing coops. Registrants are invited to attend as many or as few sessions as are applicable to them.

Trainers will include Lynne Parker, Esq., Deputy Director, New Hampshire Legal Assistance; Brian Shaughnessy, Esq., Partner, Kazan, Shaughnessy, Kasten and McDonald PLLC; Dan Feltes, Esq., Director of the Housing Justice Project, New Hampshire Legal Assistance; and Elliott Berry, Esq., Managing Attorney, New Hampshire Legal Assistance.

8:00-8:30               Registration

8:30 - 10:00           Fair Housing Overview and Fair Housing Pitfalls for Maintenance Staff and Managers

This session will include an overview of fair housing law, as well as a more focused discussion of specific pitfalls faced by on-the-ground maintenance staff and property agents working every day with tenants.  

10:30 - 12:00         Fair Housing Overview and Update for Apartment Property Owners and Managers, Public 
                              Housing Authorities, Affordable Housing Developers and Realtors

This session will cover how to avoid the unintentional, unintended consequences of otherwise reasonable
rental and management policies.  A specific focus on new federal rules on “discriminatory effects” liability of
otherwise reasonable rental and management policies will be covered, as well as any state law developments related to domestic violence victims and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.

Fair Housing in Manufactured Housing Parks

This session will include an overview of fair housing law, as well as a more focused discussion of specific age and family status discrimination issues that commonly arise in manufactured housing parks. 

Reasonable Accommodation and Housing

This session will focus on reasonable accommodation law under the federal Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, including a discussion of service animals, emotional support animals and reasonable modifications to the premises.
