We invite you to attend this inspiring three-day Institute for educators and designers—held at Lied Lodge’s world-class facility, surrounded by the natural beauty of Arbor Day Farm. The Institute will be led by experienced designers and educators from Nature Explore and The Outdoor Classroom Project.

  • TRACK ONE
    Designing Nature-Based Outdoor Classrooms for Children

    Recommended for Design Professionals (or interested Educators) desiring an overview of research-based principles for designing and constructing nature-based outdoor classrooms for children. This group will explore research-based, field-tested principles of designing and constructing outdoor classrooms, and learn from multiple case study examples of these spaces in action. An interactive process of creating concept plans for a variety of spaces will be presented, as well as new cutting-edge research. This track has been approved by Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System Providers.
  • TRACK TWO
    Using and Sustaining Outdoor Classrooms for Children: Fundamental Principles and Practices

    Recommended for Educators (or interested Design Professionals) desiring an overview of how nature-based outdoor classrooms support children’s learning. This group will enjoy a hands-on experience of discovering techniques for facilitating joyful learning in natural outdoor classrooms.
  • TRACK THREE
    Leadership Principles for Supporting Positive Transformations in Children, Educators, Families and Programs Using Nature-Based Outdoor Classrooms 

    Recommended for participants who have previously attended the Leadership Institute, or who work primarily in administrative roles. This group will explore heart-centered leadership principles for supporting staff, families and other stakeholders to help them address challenges and maximize opportunities in nature-based outdoor classrooms.

Registration

The registration fee of $395 includes an Opening Reception the evening of July 27, breakfast and lunch July 28-30, optional evening activities, and a “toolkit” of resource materials for each participant. (Note that dinner on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening will be on your own.) Registration and payment deadline is July 15.   

Accommodation
Make your room reservation directly with Lied Lodge and Conference Center. Rooms must be booked no later than July 1, 2014. Rooms are $93 per room for single occupancy and $103 per room for double occupancy. There is also a 12% lodging tax per night. For more information about Lied Lodge and Conference Center please visit www.liedlodge.org

Shuttle Service from Airport
The shuttle service to and from the Omaha airport is $30 per person per trip. To book a shuttle with Lied Lodge – click here. If you make your room reservation by phone, let Lied Lodge and Conference Center know if you would like a shuttle.

Cancellation Policy
Refunds will be made up until July 1 minus a $50 processing fee. After July 1, refunds will not be available.
