2019 Mentor Application Form

Thank you for your interest in being a PeaceJam MENTOR at the Youth Leadership Conference on Saturday March 16 and Sunday March 17 at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood! You'll get to spend the weekend developing your own leadership and investing in the next generation of peacebuilders. Here's what you need to know:

What is a PeaceJam Mentor?
A PeaceJam Mentor is a person who facilitates small groups of middle and high school youth participants at the annual PeaceJam Youth Conference and/or the PeaceJam Slam. Mentors create the space and energy of the event to ensure that all participants feel welcomed and safe to engage in the challenge topics of social justice and world peace. Mentors lead activities like team building games and discussions around the conference workshops, speakers, and simulations. We welcome all Mentors - shy, outgoing, experienced leaders, first-time mentors, activists, educators, you name it! You will be paired with another Mentor and we will make sure you're well trained before the event. You must be a near-peer, which means college-aged (don't have to actually be in college but must be between the ages of 18 and 25).

2019 PeaceJam Slam Mentor Commitment:

  • Attend the 2019 Conference on Saturday & Sunday March 16-17, 2019 at Red Rocks Community College (overnight lodging will be available for mentors who are traveling a long way)
  • Arrive at 7:00 AM and stay until 6:00 PM on conference days.
  • Attend the mandatory Mentor Training on Saturday, March 9th from 9 AM to 5PM. Location: Red Rocks Community College

Other Requirements

Background Check: PeaceJam requires ALL Mentors to submit to a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the youth. The results of the background check will be reviewed by PeaceJam and held in confidence. Offenses that are likely to result in disqualification are felonies or misdemeanors classified as an offense against a person or family, an offense against a minor, public indecency, or a violation involving a state or federally controlled substance.  Submitting to a background check requires supplying a social security number. If you have any concerns feel free to reach out to us. All situations are handled on a case by case basis.

DEADLINE TO APPLY IS WEDNESDAY, 2/27/2019.
