Mr. Fineberg divides his practice between transactional business, real estate law and employee benefits matters. In the area of business and real estate law, he has extensive transactional experience including purchase and sale of businesses, financing, secured transactions, real estate acquisition and leasing, formation of business entities and structuring of buy-sell and other arrangements among shareholders and other principals. His employee benefits practice includes both DOL and IRS benefit plan audits, participation in IRS and DOL self-correction programs, the design and implementation of all types of tax-qualified retirement plans and non-qualified deferred compensation plans, as well as cafeteria plans and other fringe and welfare benefit programs, compliance with Department of Labor (ERISA) and Internal Revenue Service regulatory requirements affecting employee benefit plans, and addressing benefit plan issues in bankruptcy.

Combining his in-depth knowledge of business and financing transactions and employee benefits, Mr. Fineberg has experience in the design structure, implementation and operation of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (“ESOPs”) for closely-held businesses both to facilitate transfers of ownership on a tax-favored basis and to provide employee incentives.  He has handled transactions involving the use of ESOPs for both internal ownership transfers and third-party sales of business. 

Mr. Fineberg has lectured on real estate and employee benefits for the Builders League of South Jersey, the Rutgers–Camden and Burlington County College incubators, the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education, New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Society of Pension Actuaries.  He is also the author of the chapter on “Employee Benefits Considerations” in Buying & Selling a Business in Pennsylvania (7th Edition, PBI Press).

Prior to becoming a successful business owner and beginning what is now a decade-long financial services career, Jeff served as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot in the United States Army. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Jeff commanded a company in the 101st Airborne Division during the initial push from Kuwait to Baghdad. Jeff joined UBS in 2004 and moved to Merrill Lynch in 2007. Jeff has been a Financial Advisor, a Financial Advisor Trainer, and today, is a senior member of the South Jersey Complex Management Team of Merrill Lynch.

Jeff is a qualified Senior Portfolio Advisor who, in addition to providing traditional advice and guidance, can draw from experience to help clients pursue their objectives by building and managing custom investment strategies, selecting from a wide range of Merrill Lynch model portfolios and third-party investment strategies. When servicing clients through the firm’s Investment Advisory Program, a Senior Portfolio Advisor may manage those strategies on a discretionary basis. Earning the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation, it has provided Jeff the educational foundation for analyzing investment options on clients’ behalf.

Jeff is a native of Southern New Jersey and lives today with his family in Mullica Hill, New Jersey. A 1996 graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Jeff earned a Bachelors degree in Aviation Business Administration. He has commercial instrument helicopter and airplane pilot licenses and enjoys flying recreationally, playing golf, and, most of all, spending time with his wife Valerie, and their three sons. Jeff is currently on the Inspira Health Hospital Board and is also Vice President of the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce.
