Planning to Remarry? Join us for a Complimentary Seminar on Family Law and Estate Planning Issues associated with second marriages and blended families.

Event date: February 13, 2015 - Choose breakfast or lunch.

Each year thousands of previously unmarried, divorced, or widowed individuals, with or without children, decide to marry.  If one spouse or both spouses fail to plan adequately, or avoid planning entirely on account of the tough issues, problems often arise after the remarriage, including upon incompetence or death of a spouse.  Intrafamily conflicts and misunderstandings deplete resources and devastate family relationships.  Please join us for a complimentary informational presentation of the challenging familial, legal, and tax issues that arise when planning for individuals intending to remarry.

Topics include:

  • What to Do in the Wake of Death or Divorce
  • Is the Divorce Really Final?
  • Legal Representation Before Remarriage
  • Fundamentals of Premarital Agreements
  • Premarital Agreement Traps
  • Client Objectives
  • His, Her, and/or Our Children
  • Spousal Entitlements (Federal and NC)
  • Traps – Titling, Beneficiary Designations, Business Interests
  • Simultaneous Death
  • Federal Estate and Gift Tax Issues
  • Action Steps for Peace of Mind
