SVMC announces changes to Continuing Education event schedule. Now on Zoom (originally Etown College) October 5, 2020 "Stories of Transformation in Luke-Acts and their Expression in Narrative Art" with Bob Neff and Chris Bucher.

Chris Bucher is Professor of Religion at Elizabethtown College

Bob Neff is an Old Testament scholar, President Emeritus of Juniata College, and former General Secretary of the Church of the Brethren.

The primary goal of this event is to investigate the artistry of narratives in the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts. We will look at ways in which the narratives invite readers' participation in the process of meaning-making. By reading slowly and deeply, we allow the narratives to speak to us and, perhaps, even to surprise us. In addition to looking at the literary artistry, we will explore ways in which visual artists have interpreted these narratives in new and fresh ways that also speak to and surprise us. We will reflect on how to engage church members in new ways of hearing and seeing the Gospel through the study of the narrative artistry of Luke and Acts. Those who register for the event will receive a syllabus of suggested reading in early September.

Zoom link will be emailed to all registered participants a day or so before the event. One fee of $40 includes .55 CEUs. Please click on "Register Now" link below to register. Currently, only personal checks can be accepted.
