FAST FACTS about ACLAMO Family Centers

ACLAMO Family Centers has been a pioneer in advocacy for the Latino community. For over 37 years, ACLAMO has been a serving the Latino and minorities communities at both locations; Norristown and Pottstown. It is the only full service bilingual (Spanish/English) community human service agency in Montgomery County.

ACLAMO’s mission is to provide improved access to educational, health, economic, social and community support to low-income individuals and families in Montgomery County, especially those of Spanish-speaking heritage.

ACLAMO keeps its administrative staff to a minimum by partnering with a wide range of public and private organizations and agencies, utilizing a team of volunteers and relying on a volunteer Board of Directors.

ACLAMO’s Programs

Approximately 3,000 persons benefit from ACLAMO’s services and programs every year.

  • Family Literacy and School Readiness- Provides a comprehensive family literacy program which includes early childhood education for preschool children and English as a Second Language and Life Skills for mothers
  • Education Programs - Conducts after school, summer bridge, pre-kindergarten programs for children and parental education programs for mothers
  • Social Work - Provides family counseling and assistance with employment issues, job preparation and placement and assists in housing issues relating to utilities, landlord/tenant issues 
  • Health Services – Facilitates access to health care, prenatal care, dental care. Provides preventive screening for heart disease, diabetes and breast cancer. Provides health education.  
  • Elderly Services – Assists with Social Security and Medicaid issues, provides services optimizing nutrition and senior health and supports seniors by fostering independence and conducting activities with children
  • Community Support – Provides food assistance, cultural activities, and educational workshops
