We are pleased to host two days of Gear Up seminars at the Clarion Hotel on September 23 & 24, 2019.

Registration includes lunches and snacks. The seminars begin at 8am and end at 4:30pm both days.  Registration begins at 7:00am.

Monday 9/23, ESTATES & TRUSTS:  Speaker Charlie Burdoin             8 hours CPE (CPA & IRS CE) 

Gear-Up’s estates and trusts course has been completely revamped. With the estate tax exemption so high now, there will be fewer Forms 706 filed. However, almost every client in our practices will require a Form 1041 at death. So, this year the emphasis is on that funny little tax return that no one wants to prepare. We will  demystify Form 1041.

Areas covered will be general probate and trust terminology, decedent’s final tax return and fiduciary accounting (principal vs. income). Form 1041 will be addressed in detail including deductions, rental income, basis and capital gain issues as well income distribution deduction. Also covered will be 645 elections, terminations, and the impact of TCJA.

The 2019 Gear Up accounting course is designed to give practitioners the information they need to provide audit, review, compilation, and preparation engagements for small and midsized companies. This course is more than just an update. It covers a wide variety of topics including:

• Review of current SSARS and discuss how it has changed our practices
• A look at financial statement presentation for different types of organizations
• Discussion on the income tax method of accounting and a review on how TCJA changed definitions of small businesses and how that may affect financial statements
• Special purpose framework financial statements. How are they relevant to smaller businesses?
• Review of practice management and continuation issues
• A look at fraud and data security in the modern world
