This is an opportunity for the agricultural community to gather and discuss current issues with water quality and soil health, as well as hear updates about funding programs for on farm projects.

  • Learn about what our neighbours to the west are doing to protect Lake Erie from toxic algae blooms, with a presentation from Charles Lalonde of the Thames River Phosphorus Reduction Collaborative.
  • Hear about innovative ways to improve soil health from Zac Cohoon, who was voted 2017 Innovative Farmer of the Year by the Innovative Farmers Association of Ontario.
  • Find out about the current state of the Kawartha Lakes watershed from Kawartha Conservation’s Water Quality Specialist, Debbie Balika.
  • Local farmer Bernard Leahy will talk about the water quality project he implemented on his Lakefield farm, and his experience accessing cost-sharing programs.
  • Get updates from OSCIA, OFA, OMAFRA, ALUS and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
  • Stewardship Technician Emily Johnston will speak about cost-sharing programs available through Kawartha Conservation and the East Central Farm Stewardship Collaborative (ECFSC)
  • Join in the discussion or ask questions with a panel of experts after lunch
  • Cost is $25.00+HST ($28.25) and includes a hot BBQ chicken lunch

Join us for our 2019 Agricultural Conference presented in partnership with the City of Kawartha Lakes.
