Stewardship done well not only advances the mission of your organization by acknowledging the gifts of donors, but it helps in building donor confidence in the organization thereby laying the ground work for future giving.

Too often, however, stewardship is treated as a final step in your donor relationship, rather than as a key move in increasing and improving a donor’s giving history to your institution. Typically, we don’t spend enough time and resources planning and executing an effective stewardship program to cultivate our donors or create a relationship that encourages repeat lifetime giving.

Charlie Shepard, Senior Consultant at Gonser Gerber, provides development consulting services to non-profit organizations, including developing and strengthening Boards, gift programs, campaign planning and execution, advancement team building, and other aspects of institutional advancement.
