About Citizens for Self-Governance: Citizens concerned for the future of their country, under a federal government that's increasingly bloated, corrupt, reckless and invasive, have a constitutional option. We can call a Convention of States to return the country to its original vision of a limited federal government that is of, by and for the people.

CONVENTION OF STATES PROJECT
BREAKFAST MEETING:
Planning Our Next Steps

SATP Friend and Supporter:

Regardless of political party, many now believe Federal overreach and abuse of power have brought our country to the point of a Constitutional crisis. SATP believes the time is now to stand up and be part of the solution.

If you are ready and wiling to roll up your sleeves to help get the Convention of States Project off and running in Texas...we need you and welcome your support and involvement! Are you with us?

We hope your answer is "Yes!" If so, please attend our meeting with complimentary breakfast on Saturday, August 16, 2014, 9-11 AM, at:

Lion & Rose British Restaurant & Pub (Park North)

San Antonio, TX 78216

Add a description Our Guest Speaker: Michael P. Farris, Senior Fellow for Constitutional Studies, Citizens for Self-Governance. Michael Farris is the Chancellor of Patrick Henry College and Chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association. He was the founding president of each organization. During his career as a constitutional appellate litigator, he has served as lead counsel in the United States Supreme Court, eight federal circuit courts, and the appellate courts of thirteen states. Mr. Farris heads the Convention of States Project. He will address and bring clarity to the application process for a Convention of States under Article V of the U.S. Constitution.

The Convention of States website provides the following overview information on the purpose, goal, and plan for moving forward with this initiative:

PURPOSE
The Convention of States (COS) Project was founded to stop our runaway federal government from spending this country into the ground, seizing power from the states and taking liberty from the people.  Washington, D.C., is broken and will not fix itself.

GOAL
The COS Project urges and empowers state legislators to call a Convention of States.  The delegates would be able to propose amendments to the Constitution that would curb the federal government abuses.  Article V of the Constitution gives them this power; the COS Project gives them an avenue through which they can use it.

PLAN
The COS Project's plan is twofold:
1.  To call a convention for a particular subject rather than a particular amendment; i.e., to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.  Instead of calling a convention for a balanced budget amendment (though we are entirely supportive of such an amendment), our convention would allow other federal limiting amendments to be brought as well.  (Term-limits, Tax reform, etc)
2.  To energize the grassroots!  We are building a grassroots operation in a minimum of 40 states, getting 100 people to volunteer in at least 75% of the state legislative districts.  Volunteers will contact their State legislators, show up at hearings, and support the campaigns of legislators who support COS.
