“Coaching Conversations” and the use of language, in precision, are the key core attributes of the practice of coaching for human improvement and change. The impact of coaching for creating shifts in educational environments, as a human resource development strategy, and in organizational life is well founded.  In this coach training workshop, coaches will explore the “constructive use of difference” and how to create meaningful coaching interventions that center on the tenants of social justice – anchored in diversity, equity, and inclusion – for shifts in organizational climate in individual, group, or leadership coaching engagements. This coaching program is designed for practicing clinicians who want to how diversity, equity, and inclusion impacts the conversation as an organizational dynamic. 

Course Topics and Training Objectives:

  • Define the practice of professional coaching in organizational development 
  • Identify the role of a coach and its relationship to improving social justice outcomes
  • Identify the eight key components of social identity
  • Discuss basic concepts in social justice, and key steps to responding to the needs of organizational communities (education, human resources, and community based organizations) to improve organizational culture 
  • Discuss the code of ethics for life coaches and the possible bias of the practitioner
  • Analyze case scenarios that represent potential equity and inclusion dilemmas for the organization 
  • Explain the theoretical foundations of social justice and diversity in organizational life
  • Discuss the concept of assessment as a “person centered strategies” to create awareness and inform the organizational intervention
  • Discuss various methods of assessment used to create awareness 
  • Design the agenda of the DEI intervention based on best practices
  • Discuss the methods of creating alignment 
  • Identify strategies that support action steps to engage students, team members, and organizations towards an “inclusive culture”
  • Discuss the use of the impact of body language as a positioning strategy for a coach
  • Explain the three characteristics of designing interventions
  • Create a plan to launch a social justice coaching initiative with a defined target audience in educational, human resources, and community based organization environments
  • Create a coaching program using a program design map and a coaching conversation (featuring pattern language)
  • Express the benefits of creating program anchors in the coaching experience
  • Distinguish the appropriate use of anchors in coaching 
  • Discuss basic concepts in experiential learning, and Kirkpatrick’s level of evaluation that impact the design of coaching as practitioner 

Registration:

Registration Fees for this program is $4,235. Registration includes masterful instruction and course materials, and includes a learning journal to create a trajectory for the participant to align a component of coaching to the tenants of achieving social justice outcomes.  

EARLY REGISTRATION is recommended, as this training delivery requires pre-work. In addition, as there are weekly homework assignments.  A confirmation packet will describe each session of the learning event, your pre-work, and information about online access.

Program Facilitator:

Dr. Kenneth Mitchell, BCC is a professional life coach who specializes in talent development, life design, and psychometrics. He trains life coaches, works with colleges and nonprofits, and designs programs for college access and career development. Coach Kenneth Mitchell is a Certified MBTI Master Facilitator and a Board Certified Coach. His coach training includes extensive study in psychometric instruments.  Coach Mitchell is a member of the Association of Coach Training Organizations (ACTO) and serves as a project director for the US Department of Education – Office of Postsecondary Education. Dr. Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree in economics, an MBA in management, and a doctorate in applied management, with emphasis in organizational development. Post-doctoral study in survey research design augments his academic credentials. Coach Mitchell is a subject matter expert in organizational development, capacity building and youth development.
