Blacksmithing 

Have you thought of becoming a blacksmith?  Want to know more about blacksmithing?  Interested in learning a past skill or start a new hobby.  This course is for you. 

 Geared for beginners with little or no experience, this 4-hour class will teach the participants about fire, shop safety, tools, equipment, basic forging skills and use of the anvil, and hammer control. 

 This is an outdoor event.  Demonstrations will be conducted outside the NE AR Blacksmiths’ mobile trailer that transports the group’s equipment such as forges and anvils along with other tools. 

 As time permits, NE AR Blacksmiths will demonstrate items in the theme of ‘Blacksmithing for the Homestead’ with items such as making nails, spoons, ladles, skillets etc. 

 Participation is encourage.  To participants, you will need to wear clothing made of cotton (no synthetic material), closed toed shoes, and have eye and ear protection. 

This 4-hour course is a Free event as part of the Homesteading Workshop Series.
