SAICA West Rand District Association hereby invites you to our CPD event with the topic: "IFRS for SME's - how to deal with first time adoption".

About the event
This session will focused on the financial reporting requirements for a first-time adopter of IFRS for SMEs. It will give guidance on how to account for the transition to IFRS for SMEs, module 35. The session outline is as follow:

  • Background on IFRS for SMEs
  • Who can apply IFRS for SMEs?
  • Accounting procedures for a first time adopter of IFRS for SMEs
    • When is a entity a first time adopter?
    • Date of Transition
    • Selection of accounting policies
    • Opening statement of Financial Position
    • Relief/Exceptions to retrospective application of first time adoption of IFRS for SMEs
    • Significant judgments required
    • Discussion on practical aspects and first time implementation issues

  • CFOs/Preparers of Financial statements applying IFRS for SMEs or currently on SA GAAP and SA GAAP for SMEs

  About the presenter
Elize is in private practice and was the divisional head, quality control at Protect-a-Partner.

She holds a B Compt hons degree and is a RA and CA(S.A.). She also provides training to the small and medium size audit firms.
