Event Objective
This half day event aims to give delegates a better understanding of some do's and don'ts around trusts, the latest in case law rulings as well as which specific clauses one should add in order to have a properly drafted trust deed. Various tax aspects will also be discussed

About the presenters

Gert van der Berg

Gert is an Associate Director – Estate and Trusts in the Advisory Services Department of Pricewaterhouse Coopers. He holds a B.CIV. IURIS from the University of the Orange Free State and a LLB from UNISA.

He held the position of Acting Assistant Master in Bloemfontein, Trust manager at the then Boland Bank and was in private practice focussing on Estate and Trust advisory services.

 

He has also been the co-author with Dr PA Olivier and Stefan Strydom of publication like; Trust Law and Practice, Praktiese Boedelbeplanning and Trust Law through the Cases.

 

Gert has presented seminars countrywide on estate planning, trusts and administration of estates and more specifically for organizations like SAICA, the LAW SOCIETY, REGSLUI VIR AFRIKAANS and various others. He lectures at the University of Pretoria to students studing towards a Masters Degree in Taxation and has acted as guest Lecturer on a regular basis at various Universities.

  

Stefan Strydom 

Stefan holds a B. Comm (Honns), CTA as well as a B. Comm (Law), LLB, LLM, LLD from the University of the Potchefstroom. He is also currently enrolled at UP for a diploma course in Capital Gains Tax. 

He is a Chartered Accountant and is currently employed as Associate Director in the Trusts and Estate division of Pricewaterhouse Coopers. 

Stefan is the Co-author of the book “Trustlaw and Practice” together with Prof. PA Olivier and G. van der Berg and Co-author of the publication “Trusts through the Cases” together with G. van der Berg.  

He has acted as main presenter on various half day and full day seminars during 2006 – 2012 on law of trusts & estate planning, amongst others for SAICA, FPI & SAIPA; acted as presenter on various occasions on Budget reviews; various discussions on radio on RSG’s moneyweb; and is author of various articles on tax and estate planning in the Blue Chip Magazine. He is a member of the SAICA tax Committee in the Free State.

Terms and Conditions 

 

  1. No shows on the day of the event will be charged 100% of the course price. A substitute delegate is welcome at no extra cost.
  2. Delegates may transfer their registration to another event, once at no charge - provided we are informed at least 5 working days before the event. For last minute transfers or transfers made inside of the 5 working days, a late transfer fee of 20% will be charged.
  3. You may cancel your registration, in writing, up to 7 working days before the event takes place, incurring a 10% administration cost. Cancellations made inside of the 7 days will be liable for the full fee.
  4. Unfortunately, no refund can be given to delegates who do not attend without giving prior notice.
  5. B Square reserves the right to cancel the event, change the speaker or to change the venue.
  6. Please note, once your registration form is received, you will be issued with a tax invoice. Payment, or proof thereof or an order number must be received the day before the event.
