Join us for the 31st annual Utah Geographic Information Council conference at Dinosaurland in Vernal, UT!  From seasoned GIS professionals to new and upcoming students, this conference will provide an opportunity to grow your GIS knowledge base and expand your networking reach. Geospatial experts will hold workshops and presentations that are guaranteed to elevate individual GIS cognition in our rapidly changing field. The event  is packed full of great presentations, workshops, vendors and opportunities to advance your GIS skills and learn from other GIS Professionals.

The event will be held at the Uintah Conference Center! Located in downtown Vernal near the Utah Field House Museum, and just a short drive from Dinosaur National Monument, this exciting UGIC destination will provide plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking and viewing scenic vistas! Lodging Information:

Lodging is open now - We have secured discounted rates at several hotels near the conference center.  Please click HERE for hotel rates and contact information.  

Individuals are encouraged to identify themselves as part of the group block (UGIC) to receive the discounted rate. The rate is good until 4/15/2022, so please make your reservations before that date in order to receive the conference rate. 

Meals at the Conference:

Pre-Conference Training Meals: Lunch and breaks are included in the pre-conference training prices for full-day workshops.

Conference Meals:  Lunch and breaks (morning/afternoon) are included Wednesday through Friday. In addition, a vendor social on Wednesday evening with appetizers/finger food, and a BBQ dinner in the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum on Thursday evening are included with registration.

Conference Apparel:

This year, the conference apparel will be a Cardigan Sweater, Black in color. Both men's (Picture on the left) and ladies' (Picture on the right) styles are available.  If you are only signing up for Pre-Conference Training or Single Day Registration you will not get a shirt.

Student Scholarships: 

Every year, UGIC awards 2 scholarships for students in Utah to attend the annual conference. All current students are eligible to apply, so if you are a student we encourage you to submit an application!  More information can be found HERE.

Call For Papers: 

UGIC  is now accepting abstract submissions for for breakout presentations at the 2022!  

We are proud of the excellent work being done by geospatial professionals in Utah. The UGIC Conference provides an excellent venue to tell your story and share your work. Your content doesn’t have to be ground breaking work and you don’t have to be a polished presenter.  This is a conference of laid-back geo-geeks happy to be away from their office for a few days.

The strength of our grassroots GIS organization is found in users helping users as we all become better at what we do. We would like to hear from a variety of colleagues: public and private sectors, tribal, federal, state, and local governments, educators, managers, innovators, beginners, students, experts, and everywhere in between. We want to hear from YOU!  Submit an Abstract!

Getting to the Uintah Conference Center in Vernal: 

To Vernal from the Salt Lake Valley and Points North:
From I-15, take exit 304 for Cheyenne/Interstate 80 Eastbound. Go east on I-80 for 20 miles, and take exit 146 for US-40/189 toward Heber/Vernal.  Drive southeast on US-40/189 for 20 miles to Heber City, and continue right to stay on US 40 for another 114 miles. In Roosevelt, turn right to stay on US 40 for another 28 miles. In Vernal, continue east on Main Street, and turn right at S. 300 East to drive two blocks to the conference center.

To Vernal from Utah County and Points South:
From I-15 Northbound, take Provo exit 263, University Avenue. Follow University Avenue north through Provo Canyon 29 miles to Heber City. Turn right on US-40/189. Drive 114 miles to Roosevelt. In Roosevelt, turn right to stay on US 40 for another 28 miles. In Vernal, continue east on Main Street, and turn right at S. 300 East to drive two blocks to the conference center.

Vendor Setup: Tuesday, May 10th after 4:00 PM or Wednesday, May 11th anytime before 3:00 PM 

Vendor Tear-down:  Friday, May 13th anytime after 11:00 AM

Vendor Hours:

 Wednesday, May 11th, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM; Vendor Social 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

 Thursday, May 12th, 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM

 Friday, May 13th, 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM
